Why Outsource?
As competition in the marketplace increases, the legal industry is realizing that high quality and low cost solutions that are scalable, are essential to survive and maximize profits. Following the success of outsourcing in many industrials including financial services, the legal industry has opened up to new ways of doing business to increase operational efficiencies, decrease HR and infrastructure costs and provide higher quality service. Legal outsourcing allows the client to redirect its resources to higher value work, including business development. This strategy allows firms to significantly decrease the risk of investing in new business opportunities, and to facilitate the growth of higher level human capital.
Due to market forces, India possesses an abundance of highly skilled attorneys that are educated in English, who lack opportunities based upon domestic Indian legal work, and who are therefore extremely motivated by the opportunities from outsourcing.
India Overview
All of Variante Global’s outsourcing is performed by Indian attorneys at our Hyderabad, India office. These professionals are aggressively recruited and continuously trained on the United States legal practices as well as the nuances of our clients’ practices. Indian attorneys speak and write in fluent English. Furthermore, they undergo three to five years of post-secondary studies in law focused on the Indian common law, which like the United States, is a common law jurisdiction rooted in the British legal tradition. Moreover, because India possesses an abundance of skilled professionals, our legal team is readily scalable to the needs of the client.
According to a recent study by researchers at the University of California at Berkley, legal assistants and paralegals working in India on behalf of United States law firms cost 2/3 less than comparable skill in the U.S., notwithstanding other savings attributed to decreased infrastructure, and savings from taxes and benefits. Furthermore, we offer our clients around the clock service and real time assistance over three shifts, and in India, Saturday is a regular work day thereby increasing the financial and productivity benefits as well.
Indians as a workforce have proved their strong capability and willingness to work hard in markets outside of India for years. They are well known as among the best and most talented workers in the world, including by those in the U.S., and this is the pool of talent that we make avaliable to our clients.
Our Process
Variante Global seeks to customize each legal support solution to each of our clients’ needs. Preliminary discussion and evaluation allows our dedicated team to analyze our clients’ business and their processes and determine those areas that would benefit the most from the services that we provide. Upon completion of this evaluation, staffing needs are identified in India, and comprehensive training sessions based upon the clients’ work process is commenced by Variante and/or our client. Variante Global’s facility is equipped with a state of the art training facility which supports in person as well as virtual training and video conferencing/lecture capabilities. This capability allows each client to have greater participation in the training phase if it so wish. Once the India team is highly proficient in the client’s work process, a pilot consisting of practice based work is commenced. The work product is submitted to the quality assurance team assigned to the project, and then reviewed by the client. Upon satisfaction of the client with the entire process, the India team commences live client work which is continuously reviewed by the quality assurance team and submitted to the client.
